Bakersfield Budo – Isshinkan Dojo is once again honored to host Carl Long Kyoshi, Soshihan of the Kokusai Nippon Budo Kai for an instructor seminar on Friday, May 2nd and a TWO DAY Gasshuku, Saturday, May 3rd and Sunday, May 4th. Friday’s Koshukai will be concerned with direct instruction from Long Kyoshi, 22nd Soshihan of the KNBK, on the teaching practices and methods for Licensed KNBK instructors and Study Group leaders. This year’s Gasshuku will cover the iai and kumitachi techniques of the Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iai Heiho syllabus as taught by the KNBK. Eligible KNBK members may participate in Shinza (grading) on Sunday May 4th. This will be Long Kyoshi’s second visit to Bakersfield Budo and will be a great opportunity for all KNBK members to enjoy each others company, participate in the real exchange of Budo through the kinship of “sweat equity,” and learn from senior KNBK leadership! Carl Long Kyoshi serves as the 22nd Generation Headmaster of the Masaoka-ha lineage of Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaijutsu and as such, is Hombu-cho of the KNBK Intl. Hombu Dojo and Kenshoin (Inspector/Advisor) of Iaido and Batto-do for the International Division of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, the oldest governing organization for the martial arts of Japan. Carl Long, Kyoshi holds the grades of 8th Dan, Shorin-ryu Karate-do; 7th Dan, Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu Iaijutsu; 6th Dan, Shito-ryu Karate-do; 5th Dan, Shindo Muso-ryu Jojutsu; and dan grades in Aikido and Kobudo.
