The fourth annual Winter Gasshuku is here, I sincerely hope everyone can come out and enjoy a weekend with Shimabukuro Sensei. Hanshi has always encouraged us to keep a beginners spirit. I sincerely hope everyone can make it out for this fourth anual event.

Friday: 6:30pm, Open floor for training kyusha, Yudansha Training session, covering teaching fundamentals and philosophy.
Saturday: 9:00am MJER essential training, Ono Ha Itto Ryu Kenjutsu.
Sunday: 9:00am Shindo Muso Ryu Jojutsu, Ono ha Itto Ryu Review.

First Annual Kern River Budo Sai!

October 23rd and 24th, Bakersfield Budo and friends from Senkakukan Dojo Sacramento and Shindenkan Budo from Lancaster will host the first Kern River Budo Sai, this event is inspired by our universal interest in traditional Martial Arts and our friendships with many schools from around the country. Japanese Swordsmanship being the dominant interest of our Koryu Budo network, we hope this grows into an event that attracts many other styles of Budo. I would love to see Koryu Jujutsu and Sogo Budo of other traditions want to attend and share their disciplines with us, Gendai Budo and arts from modern lineage are also very welcome. The Budoka who are trusted in teaching at this event are confirmed in their traditions and are true exponents of the schools of Budo they represent.

The parallel mission of this event is to provide a venue for the beginning student to attend seminars geared specifically for them, introduction to taikai competitions is the theme for our Budosai, we welcome the new student who has always wanted to take part in this kind of festival but was hesitant to do so due to not being familiar with the etiquette and vocabulary.
